Biting
March 15th, 2009 by webmasterThis is your secret weapon! If you are ever in a position where you can’t execute any of the other moves we show, you can probably still bite him. It’s a great all-purpose tool that can be done from almost any position, even when you’re both on the ground wrestling around.
Biting is also a great way to get someone off of you, or get them to let go of you. Plus it’s way simpler and easier to remember than some other more complicated releases. There’s no use trying to muscle your way out or use a complicated leverage technique if this simple bite can do it for you.
Primal fear
People have a primal fear of being bitten, it is one of our natural defense mechanisms in a world full of dangerous animals. Have you ever been bitten by an animal? Do you remember how it felt emotionally at the time? If you can create that primal fear in your attacker he will do the work for you, he will want to create space between you.
Hold on tight
The most important thing to remember when biting is to grab and hold whatever you are biting in place with your hands and arms i possible. Reach completely around it and grab your own arm with your other hand to complete the grip around his body, arm, leg, etc.
Now bite hard, and ferociously, for added psychological impact feel free to growl.
The fact that you are holding on makes it difficult to escape the bite at first, and soon he will be the one struggling to get away from you!
Catch and release
When you are sure he wants to get away from your gnashing teeth, let him go and run away or follow up with strikes as needed.
This is often the best way to get out of a hold, for example:
- If he has you in a headlock
- If he has you in a choke
- If he is on top of you pinning you to the ground.
Tips
- Be sure not to “bite off more than you can chew” so-to-speak. Too much of an arm in your mouth will prevent you from applying force well, be sure to just bite the skin.
- Besides arms and fingers, the torso, neck, nose, or ears are also great targets!
- The chance of catching a disease is actually much lower than you may think. You might not even break the skin. It would be EXTREMELY RARE for someone to catch HIV from biting their attacker. Your chance of catching something is probably much higher if you don’t do everything you can (including bite) to stop a sexual assault.
