Gun defense

March 15th, 2009 by webmaster

One of the biggest myths about guns is that they are easy to shoot. The reality however is not like the Hollywood movies. When the pressure is on, and the adrenaline is pumping, guns are extremely hard to fire accurately. Statistics show that beyond “point blank” range the accuracy of trained officers is miserable, and the accuracy of criminals is even worse, with up to 96% of their shots missing at “close range” (3-9 feet).

Run away in a zig zag

That part is very important. Do NOT run away in a straight line. You have to run in a zigzag pattern. Bob and weave.

It is hard, even for a trained shooter, to hit a quickly moving target. For an untrained thug it is even more difficult. Any hit will probably be a glancing blow and you can keep on running.

Keep running

This works for a knife too.

What if I can’t run?

Unfortunately if you are trapped in some way and cannot run away, you are left with options which are not so great. We recommend making a lot of noise and fighting back. Focus on grabbing the weapon and keeping it from your vital areas (head and torso).
