7 year old fights off kidnapper

February 10th, 2012 by webmaster

Here’s the story of a 7 year old Georgia girl who escaped a kidnapper.

It just goes to show that size isn’t everything in women’s self defense. Sometimes all you have to do is struggle and attract enough attention to make the abduction more trouble than they are looking for!

Good job little girl!

Parking lot safety

December 26th, 2011 by webmaster
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Park near a light, even if it’s not dark now it might be dark when you come out.
  • Never be afraid to ask someone from the store to walk you out or help you with your things.
  • Walk in the middle of the lanes instead of near the cars. Parked cars are excellent hiding spots for an attacker.
  • Get your keys or pepper spray out, and ready to go. Read the rest of this entry »

Thumb escape

July 19th, 2011 by webmaster

When an attacker grabs you by the arm a good way to release his grip is to twist your arm in the direction of his thumb. Don’t fight his 4 fingers when you can fight 1 thumb, in this way you are working against the weakest part of the grip. Read the rest of this entry »

Keys

July 19th, 2011 by webmaster

A lot of you may have been told before, to hold your keys in your fist so that they stick out between your fingers, to punch an attacker in self defense. We do NOT recommend this. We consider it a self-defense myth. You are way more likely to hurt your hand than your attacker doing this.

Instead, use one key like a tiny knife.

Hold one of your keys like you would normally hold it to unlock a door. Hold it very tightly and use it just like you would use a tiny knife. You can stab or slash an attacker in self defense much more easily in this way. Read the rest of this entry »

Just yell “fire!”

March 15th, 2009 by webmaster

An attacker doesn’t want everyone to see what’s going on. They don’t want to gt caught. They don’t want attention.

Therefore you should make it a priority to attract as much attention as possible.

Always remember to Just Yell “Fire”

It may sound odd at first to yell “fire” when there is no fire, but there are many good reasons for it. Read the rest of this entry »

Trust your danger instincts

March 15th, 2009 by webmaster

Instincts are a wonderful thing, but sometimes people second guess themselves.

They think “Oh I’m just overreacting” or “I don’t want to seem rude”.

Always trust your danger instincts!

You have nothing to lose by being cautious. Who cares if you’re wrong? Who cares if it’s rude? No skin of your back.

Everyone is wrong sometimes, wouldn’t you rather be TOO safe instead of not safe enough? Read the rest of this entry »

Jogging safety

March 15th, 2009 by webmaster
  • Run against the traffic, not with it.
  • Stay alert
  • Vary your route. If you run the same route every day then anyone who has been following you or watching you knows where and when you will be alone and vulnerable.
  • If you are out of town ask at the front desk of your motel for a safe running route.
  • If you are out of the country, ask about safety and always respect local customs and dress. Read the rest of this entry »

Stay alert

March 15th, 2009 by webmaster

Always keep your eyes and ears open. This is very important when it comes to enforcing boundaries.

It’s important to identify the key points in your daily routines when you could be more alert.

Ipod safety

One example is when you are listening to an ipod, you are unable to hear an attacker coming up behind you, someone shouting a warning, gunshots, or even a car coming. If you simply leave one earbud in and take one out, you can listen to your music and still be aware of the sounds around you.

Cellphone safety

Talking or texting in public has it’s place, but stay aware of the environment around you. Don’t become completely absorbed in it, and know when it’s time to turn it off. Read the rest of this entry »

Projecting confidence

March 15th, 2009 by webmaster

It’s gross, but to avoid an attacker, sometimes you have to think like an attacker.

The type of person they are looking for is meek and quiet.

The type of person they are looking for won’t put up much of a fight, if any.

The type of person they are looking for is easily intimidated.

That type of person appears to be an “easy target”.

You can appear to be the exact opposite, a “hard target”, simply by projecting confidence with your body language. Read the rest of this entry »
